The faculty management together with the organising committee started arranging the largest faculty conference – the 16th International Scientific Days 2020 – almost a year in advance, last summer.  In order to increase the degree of internationalization and involvement of foreign partners, it was agreed that the ISD will be held abroad, at our partners – the Corvinus University of Budapest and the Hungarian Association of Agricultural Economists (HAAE) in Budapest.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference organizing committee had to manage and coordinate even the preparatory phase only through online communication. Technical support and necessary technical skills of the moderators as well as participants of each conference session became the main concern. This crisis tested our flexibility and readiness to move this scientific event to the online world.

The result of thorough preparation was the main conference day on May 14, 2020, starting with the opening address and welcome speech of the dean, prof. Elena Horská. The meeting in 5 MS TEAMS rooms was attended by almost 90 participants from several universities from Slovakia, but also foreign speakers from Poland, Ukraine, Hungary and the Czech Republic. The topic of the conference "Innovative Approaches for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Development" was discussed in several aspects in scientific sessions, with the active involvement of our partners from the Visegrad University Association (VUA), the Association of Agricultural Economists in Slovakia and EUNIS. Several research project outputs have also been presented at this event: APVV-16-0244 "Qualitative factors affecting the production and consumption of milk and cheese", APVV-17-0564 “The Use of Consumer Neuroscience and Innovative Research Solutions in Aromachology and its Application in Production, Business and Services" (NEUROSMELL), VEGA 1/0802/18 "Corporate social responsibility and innovation activities focused on decreasing food losses with regards of environmental issues", Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education, no. 2018-1-SK01-KA203-046324 "Implementation of Consumer Neuroscience and Smart Research Solutions in Aromachology"(NEUROSMARTOLOGY) as well as Erasmus+ KA2 Strategic Partnerships for Adult Education, no.  2018-1-TR01-KA204-058739 “Assessing and Changing Adults’ Behavior on Sustainable Consumption of Food” (SUSCOF).

The scientific conference proceedings will be published in cooperation with foreign partners.
