International COMFOCUS (Horizon 2020) workshop in support of Open Call 2

On 13 June 2023, the international workshop "Online Visit of the European Research Infrastructure" was held at the Krakow University of Economics (UEK) in Poland. It was organised in the framework of the Horizon 2020 project COMFOCUS (101005259) in support of Open Call 2 – a unique opportunity to apply for research grants at 9 European institutions and laboratories.
First, on behalf of the host university, prof. Krzysztof Wach from UEK together with the local project coordinator for SUA in Nitra prof. Elena Horská welcomed local and online participants to the event. Next, the project coordinator Machiel Reinders (Wageningen University, The Netherlands) briefly introduced the project. This was followed by a virtual tour of the participating research facilities, where their representatives showed their workplaces and research opportunities offered.
At the end of the event, the objectives and expected outcomes of Open Call 2 were discussed. Its aim is to provide an opportunity for early career researchers to gain access to European consumer science institutes specializing in psychophysiological measurements, virtual and augmented reality research, and conduct collaborative research on important food consumer science questions. 67 positions are offered to conduct research in one of the participating institutions, designed to accommodate research projects that align with the expertise and research priorities of the various institutes.
The EU-funded COMFOCUS project aims to advance food consumer science by taking a critical view to the concepts and methods used, in order to produce harmonised measures and protocols. Having these harmonised approaches will enable to compare findings from different studies and make it possible to integrate data from several studies. The final goal is to create the COMFOCUS starting community for food consumer science.
