Welcome to the website of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) of the SUA in Nitra, which will provide you with an overview of the focus and activities of one of the best economic faculties in Slovakia with more than 67 years of tradition in higher education and research.

The Faculty of Economics and Management is one of the six faculties of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra and its mission is to educate, conduct research and provide advice on economics and management with an emphasis on reflecting the societal development and the latest scientific research in this field. Its operation as part of the Slovak University of Agriculture also provides space for interdisciplinary solutions to economic and managerial problems, specific to the food chain, rural development and related industries in the sectors of production, trade and services.
FEM is one of the largest faculties of the university in terms of the number of students. The faculty has also the highest number of foreign students studying at SUA, which speaks for the good reputation not only in the national but also in the international environment. The faculty provides quality economic and managerial education within accredited study programmes at all three levels of study.
Study Programs
Starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, we are launching the teaching of new, or rather innovated, study programs at both the bachelor's and master's levels. Their structure is designed to fully meet the demands of modern society and rapid global development. Both levels of study are closely connected and logically follow each other, thereby providing future graduates with the space for thorough professional profiling.
- Economics and Business Administration: Offered in both Slovak and English, this program provides a unique opportunity to obtain a double degree at the master's level in cooperation with Middlesex University in London. The study is free of charge, and the added value for the graduate is a study stay in Great Britain, a diploma from an English university, an MSc title, and, as a bonus, a graduation ceremony at Middlesex University in London. Within the bachelor's program, we are preparing a double degree program with the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne in France, supported by the European University Alliance INVEST project. We are proud that it has been over 15 years since the faculty started teaching in English. This has consistently created opportunities for cooperation in international mobility programs and double degrees with institutions like Middlesex University in London, the Agricultural University in Krakow, and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences in Kyiv.
- Commerce and Marketing: This program responds to the changing world of business and communication. We have enriched it with subjects that directly reflect the needs of modern practice. We connect traditional marketing tools and creation with innovations—from artificial intelligence to neuromarketing, biometrics, and software solutions. The goal is for our graduates not only to follow but directly set trends in domestic and international markets.
- Accounting, Finance, and Taxation [&] Finance and Accounting: An integral part of our offer is the bachelor's program in Accounting, Finance, and Taxation, enriched with new topics to better complete the graduate's profile. The master's degree offer is enriched by a completely new Finance and Accounting program, created as a direct response to long-term interest, especially from graduates of the Accounting bachelor program.
- Applied Economics and Data Analysis [&] Quantitative Methods in Economics: The study program offer concludes with the bachelor's program in Applied Economics and Data Analysis and the master's program in Quantitative Methods in Economics. These programs teach students not only to analyze complex data but also to transform it into strategic decisions in modern management.
- Doctoral Studies: We provide doctoral studies across all programs (Economics and Business Administration, Economics and Management of Agriculture and Food Industry, Agrarian Trade and Marketing) in both Slovak and English.
Research and Scientific Activities
In the area of scientific research, the team of the Faculty of Economics and Management focuses on current economic, managerial, and marketing problems throughout the entire food vertical, agricultural policies and finance in the agricultural sector, food security, and, last but not least, issues of sustainable development from multiple aspects.
Since 2018, the Laboratory of Consumer Studies has been operating at the faculty, which, in cooperation with the Agrobiotech Research Centre and the SUA Creative Centre in Nitra, develops interdisciplinary research and implements new technologies into research and decision-making, particularly the use of biometric and neuromarketing methods and aromas. Since 2025, we have expanded the laboratory's scope to include topics from economics, management, and psychology, thus changing its name to the Laboratory of Consumer and Managerial Research.
The need to support high-quality research and project activities in sustainable agriculture, bioeconomy, and climate change adaptation culminated in the establishment of the Research Centre for Agriculture and Bioeconomy in 2024. The centre actively participates in major international projects, collaborates with the OECD and other renowned institutions at home and abroad, organizes international conferences, supports doctoral studies, and cooperates with the agricultural sector in solving current challenges.
We can state that the successfully implemented national and international projects, research for business needs, publication outputs at a recognized international level, and multiple awards serve as proof of the high-quality scientific research activities of the faculty's team.
Collaboration with Businesses and Student Life
One of the faculty's priorities is cooperation with business sphere, the main goal of which is to connect education to current practical problems and experiences, and to improve the quality of teaching through elective lectures, excursions, professional practice, or the guaranteeing of a professional subject or study program by renowned business entities and institutions. Proof of our active cooperation includes many partnerships, which you can read about on our website, as well as the establishment of our partners on the FEM premises through the IBM multifunctional room, the Deloitte accounting classroom, the Kaufland relaxation corner, the PwC chill-out zone, the Lidl Retail Academy spaces, an outdoor relaxation zone, and the TESCO computer lab. Currently, two subjects are taught at the faculty that are professionally guaranteed by our partners: Retail Academy LIDL and Skills for Success, covered by the American Chamber of Commerce. In addition, students and teachers of the faculty, have the opportunity to use the IBM SkillBuild educational platform.
The faculty strives to create a creative, friendly, and inspiring environment for its students. Active networking between business sphere, the faculty, and its students is supported by successful events such as Partnership Day and Business Day. An informal atmosphere is created by traditional academic as well as informal events, such as student matriculation, the Open Semester Party, FEM Quiz, FEM Cinema, Christmas FEM, Christmas Charity, or Lunch Break with the Dean. The faculty's PR team, composed of active students who gain their first managerial experiences this way, is behind the organization of these events. Rounding everything off is a pleasant kitchenette and the faculty café, serviced by the Slovak coffee roastery "Pražiareň pod hradom," several relaxation zones, and a Student Center with a unique atmosphere.
